The Prefectural Asahikawa Museum of Art opened in July 1982 in Tokiwa Park, a place for Asahikawa citizens. 　As a base for art and culture in the Northern Hokkaido region, we hold a variety of exhibitions, from art related to the region to art in Japan and overseas, and carry out various dissemination activities rooted in the region. 　One of the characteristics of this museum is that it is blessed with forest resources and the furniture and woodworking industries are thriving, so it collects wooden sculptures (wood carvings, wood crafts, chairs, etc. by domestic and foreign writers). I can give it. We also collect a large number of paintings, prints, sculptures, and craft works by excellent artists who are related to the Northern Hokkaido area.

 道立旭川美術館は、昭和57年7月に、旭川市民いこいの場である常磐公園内に開館しました。
　道北地域の美術文化の拠点として、地域ゆかりの美術から国内外の美術まで、多彩な展覧会を開催し、地域に根ざしたさまざまな普及活動を行っています。
　当館の特色として、森林資源に恵まれ、家具・木工産業なども盛んな地域であることから、木の造形作品（国内外の作家による木彫、木工芸、椅子など）の収集を行っていることがあげられます。また、道北地域にゆかりのあるすぐれた作家の絵画、版画、彫刻、工芸作品などを多数収集しています。
