A cafe and gallery showcasing the photography of Tadashi Shimada. From the cafe you will be able to see many local birds.
With beautiful views out into the natural forest setting relax and enjoy a coffee, sweets or gourmet hot sandwiches. The forest outside changes with each season from a snow covered white winter setting to the relaxing cool green growth in Summer. With each season comes a variety of fauna that visit the cafe. From woodpeckers and kingfishers in Winter to the Ezo Squirrels that play and raise their young in the spring and Summer.
There is a adjoining bird hide to the cafe from which you can view and photograph without disturbing the animals and without the barrier of glass.
Our food speciality is panini pressed hot sandwiches all using a tasty fresh baguette and a variety of gourmet ingredients with a focus on Hokkaido produce. Our pickles are handmade and change seasonally. We also bake all our cupcakes in-house fresh everyday.
On the drinks side we use great beans from small local specialty roaster. We coffee we specialise in a hand drip style coffee as well as espresso based coffee. We carry some great beers, Hitachino Nest Beer, by a small Japanese Brewery. For a cold non-alcoholic drink we have our handmade strawberry soda and ginger beer.
Lunch specials daily from 11am - 2pm.
Also housed in the same building is the Tadashi Shimada Nature photo gallery showcasing his work as a photographer of birds both locally in Hokkaido and other international works
The gallery showcases Tadashi Shimada's photographic prints in large format capturing the detail and colour that cannot be reproduced in a book. The gallery rotates with the seasons and focus on the birds of Hokkaido, many found locally as well as covering other areas of Hokkaido. On occasion works featured by other artists will be shown.
All prints seen in the gallery can be purchased in a number of sizes and mount options. A portfolio of his other works can also be viewed and prints ordered.
As well as prints the gallery also sells Tadashi Shimadas most recent photo books as well as limited numbers of older rarer published books.
